What is Reiki?

Reiki is a Japanese relaxation and stress reduction technique that promotes healing. It is administered by placing the hands on various points throughout the body, or hovering the hands just above the body.

According to “Reiki, the Healing Touch, First & Second Degree Manual” by William Lee Rand, the word Reiki comes from Japanese kanji. The kanji for Rei, meaning Spiritual Wisdom, represents the healer between Heaven and Earth. This is reflective of Reiki, as the practitioner is channeling “Ki,” what is often described as chi, prana, universal life force, spiritual consciousness, etc. and the earth or human body.

The Reiki practitioner acts as a conduit for Reiki energy to deliver it to wherever it is needed, to perform the highest good.
