5 Reiki Principles
The 5 Reiki Principles are simple, yet profoundly powerful and insightful. I noticed that after just one month of completing a short meditation on these principles each morning, my thoughts and feelings had changed, the way I moved through life was different, and my perspective had shifted. I’ve found that Reiki has brought me hope during moments of my deepest despair, and these principles are another tool that has helped me navigate many of the challenges I face in my own life.
I have adapted these principles to better fit my own energy. I have rephrased them to all read like positive affirmations, which is a slight change from how they were originally written:
Just for today, don’t be angry.
Just for today, don’t worry.
Just for today, I am grateful.
Just for today, I am kind to all living things.
Just for today, I will do my work honestly.
I found that when I tell myself not to be angry or worry, I think of things that anger and worry me. So instead, I’ve modified those first two to state: Just for today, I am joyful. Just for today, I am peaceful. This way, I’m using words that better align my energy with how I want to think and feel. I’ve also changed the honesty statement to: Just for today, I am honest with myself and others because I want my honesty to come through all aspects of my life, not just my work.
